- Get the '040, forget the '030 at any speed (unless you can clock it to
- 400Mhz), I have a 50Mhz '030 and the speed increase has only really lasted a
- year as I have started running more powerful applications.
-
- The difference between the 020/14 and 040/25 is much greater than between
- 020/14 and 030/50 and will last you longer.
-
- Also the 040 has an internal FPU which will be faster than an external 68882,
- the FPU for the 030 will be an extra ú100 or so.
-
- Check this price comparison
- ---------------------------
-
- Viper 030 50Mhz ú199
- 50 Mhz FPU ú 89
- ---------------------
- ú288
- ---------------------
-
- Falcon 040 25Mhz ú399
- ---------------------
- ú399
- ---------------------
-
- ú399 -
- 288
- -------
- ú111
- -------
-
- Only a difference of ú111 for a card that will last longer, plus when you
- decide that an '060 is required you can just buy the Chip and plug it in,
- rather than sell your old board and then buy the 060.
-
- If you've got the money get the 040, it's a false economy to buy a cheap card.
